During the early planning for the new school building, the Lutheran High School Association of Greater Milwaukee established a goal to build a beautiful campus and a quality facility reflecting the surrounding community. Timeless architecture was designed with a long term view that incorporates quality materials. A stunning great hall and other special features provide a warm atmosphere conducive to student, family, and teacher interaction. The school will serve up to 400 students. The building features a large gymnasium, locker rooms, kitchen, and other functional features to serve the educational endeavor. Heating and cooling are provided by a geothermal system designed to maintain a healthy environment. The retention pond holds the geothermal coils utilized in the system. The exterior wall envelope incorporates ICF construction to maximize energy savings and provide a safe interior environment. 100% of the load bearing walls are ready mix concrete, which was chosen for strength, security, and longevity. A significant challenge was the winter construction schedule which was overcome by using insulated concrete forms.
